From Raw Material to Masterpiece

I have always been into woodworking as a hobby, but the closer I get to "retirement" I made the decision to dedicate more time to creating unique pieces for others rather than just my family and friends.

I purchased a sawmill in 2019 and started slabbing my own wood. I obtain local trees that would otherwise find their way to the fireplace or landfill, such as Pecan (my absolute favorite!!!!), oak, cedar, cypress, maple, black walnut, elm, and cottonwood.  I had always thought of elm and cottonwood as trash trees.  I slabbed some of it up out of curiosity and was amazed at the gorgeous grain!  Each wood species has its own unique look.
